JOURNALISM FROM MY TOILET SEAT

Cringe……

Confession time!!!!!

I’m about to share a story that’s going to make me cringe, and I’m worried my “steeze” will get reduced. But here goes nothing.

My name is Matilda Omenai, and I’ve always been a bit unconventional. My curiosity and drive are mismatched with my age, but I blame it on my enthusiasm and passion for life. I’m a self-proclaimed weirdo, and my story is about to get really weird.

OMENAI MATILDA.

My friends might say I’m a bit extra (okay, a lot extra), but hey, being extra is what makes life interesting, right? Like that one time I transformed my toilet seat into a reading nook and discovered my dream job (oops !! did I just say that).

Anyways, what do I have to lose. Let’s get this party started.

As I sit here, reflecting on my journey into journalism, I can’t help but laugh at the unconventional starting point: my toilet seat. Yes, you read that right – my toilet seat. It was there, in that unlikely space, that my love for reading and storytelling first took root.

Growing up, I was always a curious child, with a thirst for knowledge and a passion for words. It wasn’t until I started sneaking books, magazines, and novels into the restroom with me that my true calling began to reveal itself.

At first, it was just a quirky habit, a way to escape into another world while attending to my business. As time went on, I realized that I was actually hosting my own little TV show in there, reading aloud to an audience of none, but with all the flair of a seasoned broadcaster.

My siblings would tease me good-naturedly, calling the toilet my “second home” and begging me to hurry up but I didn’t mind. I was too busy perfecting my delivery, experimenting with different voices and inflections, and losing myself in the stories I read.

Fast forward to my teenage years, and I was still unsure what I wanted to study or do with my life. My mom, bless her, labeled me a “confused human” (and she wasn’t wrong!). It wasn’t until she suggested I consider mass communication that the light bulb finally went off.

Today, as I look back on my journey, I’m amazed at how far I’ve come. I’m excelling in my studies, writing , landing a part-time job at a TV station, I own a blog and excel at voiceovers .

It’s astonishing how one passion, nurtured in an unlikely place, can lead to so many opportunities. It’s a testament to the power of following your dreams, no matter how strange or unconventional they may seem.

The countdown begins! My birthday is just around the corner, June 21st to be exact, and I’m ecstatic to be leveling up in life. As I celebrate another year of growth, I’m reflecting on how far I’ve come and I’m proud to say I’m better, bolder, and more brilliant than ever. The irony? I’m still itching to do more, like a weirdo with a to-do list that never ends.  Despite being a precocious overachiever (okay, maybe I’m bragging a bit), I’m still hungry for the next challenge.

Bring on the next adventure, the next deadline, the next weird and wonderful chapter in this wild ride called life.

Till I write again, it’s bye for now.

THANK YOU FOR READING ❀️❀️❀️

p.s: I get story and poem inspirations when doing the dishes πŸ˜‚.
So it doesn’t matter where the inspiration comes from, it’s the outcome that counts.
    Well done 😌.

  4. Well-done Dear. Beautiful write up and to think the long hours in the toilet was the process of making you find who you are is amazing. The sky is just your starting point. Maybe I should do same too to find mine too πŸ˜€πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

I learned you attended NIJβ€”I didn’t know that! I’m David, nice to meet you for a second time;and this time you should also know that NIJ is my school too.

I love your blog setup and storytelling technique, so I’m adding you to my blogroll at my site. https://www.sdavidprince.space/p/links.html#blogroll

Feel free to visit anytime, even though I won’t be very active for a while as I’m setting some things up. I still try to post at least once a week.

to make this comment relevant to your post here’s what I have to say:

I’m don’t claim to be weird πŸ₯΄ a lot of actually people think I am. My backstory started in the shower I have never use any public toilet but In my secondary school days I visited the toilet a couple of times to have a shower πŸ₯΄πŸšΏ nothing weird at all
