CRUSH SYNDROME

When cupid fires an arrow to your heart…

If you’ve ever experienced butterflies in your stomach, sweaty palms, or sleepless nights over someone you’ve got a crush on, you’re not alone. This crazy little thing called a crush is a universal experience, but what exactly is it?

This is something everyone can relate to. It has no respect for male or female or even the new genders that have been forcefully introduced..lol.. (transgenders).

I remember back then at primary school when I had a crush on one guy, Wisdom Mboji. Mehnnn!! That was one crazy experience .😂😂 Most times I would day dream of the both of us together and even try to create my own dreams at night. I was always creating scenarios in my head.

Let me tell you something crazy I used to do back then, I had this believe that his parents had a camera watching all my activities. So, most times I would just carry a broom and start sweeping for no reason, even if the floor was already swept 😂😂. I was always doing unecessary chores all because I felt I was being watched by a camera. It got to a point that I stopped dressing in my room because I felt they were watching me dress up. I would take my clothes to the bathroom with me and dress up there.

Going down memory lane, I remember a day I was home alone and I started creating scenarios in my head. I imagined that he was coming to visit and I decided to cook jollof rice. So I thought it was. ( That rice is yet to have a name)😂🙂. I mixed a lot of things and that was the first time I tried cooking something other than noodles. I poured lot of rice into the pot forgetting that I was just daydreaming. When the rice was eventually ready, I tasted and it was awful . It was at that point that reality struck me. The pot was filled up with rice . I can’t even call it jollof rice because it wasn’t giving.

Suddenly, I heard the door open and my mum stepped in. I just knew that I was done for. Surprisingly, she didn’t react the way I expected her to but what she did was even worse than I expected. I would have preferred being flogged than punished the way I was. She asked me to finish the whole food. I cried as i ate the food. I can never forget that day.

Another name for crush is puppy love and the name implies it’s meaning. Puppy love is another name for crush because of its resemblance to the adoring, worshipful affection that may be felt by a puppy.

The stinging part about having a crush is when you reveal your feelings and you get crushed. When you get crushed by your crush (see those lines 😂😂😂). That’s when the feeling is not mutual.

You know the funny thing about having a crush on someone is that , it usually lasts for a minimum of two months and a maximum of two years because it’s just an infatuation. we do know that there is a hormone that controls our reaction to affection–Oxytocin. With much complexity, oxytocin only covers some part of this crazy little thing called having a crush.

Let me tell you a secret, whenever I crush on a guy, the person ends up crushing back and when I find out that the feeling had become mutual, I begin to loose interest. I usually employ this technique which has worked countless times. I can’t even remember where I got the idea from . When I start crushing on someone, I always keep to myself, I won’t even tell my closest friend and whenever I do that, the person ends up crushing back but if I tell someone about it , it would eventually not work out 😂😂 and for some reasons I’ve always found success in this strategy.

I asked around, and it turns out everyone has a story about their crushes – some sweet, some silly, and some downright embarrassing. But, one thing that almost everyone could agree on is that crushes can be a rollercoaster of emotions. I wanted to hear about the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to having a crush, so I asked my friends to spill the beans.

“Ofc everyone has crushed on someone in their life lol
And yes i have been crushed by revealing to
Someone because it wasn’t mutual
I was crushed, because i am very good at persuasion.

But then this girllllll
She’s literally the only one who’s immune.”

“well when I was little ,I had a crush and we started dating which I taught we were ,not until she told me her self that she’s only eating my money .I was pained at that moment not until her best friend came along ,I did pay back well. I keep laughing when ever I remember”

It was hard finding a girl to relate her story because it’s rare to find a girl reveal her feelings to a guy. I found just one girl and when I asked her if she has ever revealed her feelings to her crush before, guess what she told me …..she said “kinda tho, with style” and I laughed. ( My gender ehn) . She finally told me how she disclosed her feelings. J said

“I called him a nickname,Yunno, he’s a dark guy,
I called him tanned temptation, and he was confused at first, then I told him that that’s the name I’ll be calling my crush, that’s when he realized and he blushed and he started paying more attention to me. He’s still single tho”.

Have you ever had a crush on someone who was completely oblivious to your existence? It’s a classic crush scenario – you’re totally smitten, while they barely even notice you’re there. It’s like you’re speaking a different language! Or, perhaps you’ve had a crush on someone you couldn’t have. Maybe they were taken, maybe they were way out of your league, or maybe they just didn’t feel the same way. In any case, it’s a recipe for heartbreak and frustration but let’s look at the bright side of crushes. Even though they don’t turn out the way we’d like, they can still be a source of joy and excitement. There’s something thrilling about the possibility of love , even if it doesn’t pan out. Sometimes even if the crush doesn’t become anything more.it can lead to a great friendship. After all, you’ve already learned something about them.

So, in conclusion, crushes are a rollercoaster ride of emotions, with ups and downs, twists and turns, and plenty of bumps along the way. But at the end of the day, they’re also a part of life, and we can learn a lot about ourselves and our relationships by experiencing them. So, embrace your crushes, laugh at your mistakes, and try not to take it all too seriously. And who knows, maybe one day your crush will turn into something more.

Till I write again, it’s bye for now…☺️

Now, we good friends. Sometimes when we reminisce on the past, I laugh at how hopeless I was then. She laughs too😂

Yunno, to crush on someone is a very deep thingy. There’s infatuation, yeah. Then there’s pure love in form of a “crush”.

    The science behind it?
    A mystery yet unsolved

  3. Hmm, where’s the lie there, crush na cultist.

I think the most painful part of crushing on someone is that moment you’re trying to discern if that person is also feeling the same towards you, that thing can be confusing.

I love this, you really spilled the beans.

PS: Are you crushing on someone now?
