when reality meets imagination………

Life constantly throws us lemons and we’re told to make lemonades out of it. Being delulu is like making lemonades out of them and spiking it with tequila. It’s a way of living life in your own little world of fantasy, thinking and imagining things that may be out of this world.
You’re probably wondering what “delulu” is and how i coined the word. Well, it is a slang that is no stranger to the gen z’s. Delulu is the short form of the word “delusional”,” Solulu” means “Solution” and “Trululu” means “A truth”.
Delulu is a mindset that allows you to escape the harsh realities of life and enter a world where anything is possible. Delulu is imagining the popular instagram philanthropist,Asherkine, suddenly shows up at your doorstep with wads of cash and takes you out for a shopping spree. Delulu is hoping one day that you wake up to find out that Bill Gates is your biological father. Delulu is waking up to find out that you have super powers. Delulu is you hoping that on your way to school or work, you find a bag filled with money.
Delulu is imagining you have a fairy godmother or genie that grants all your wishes. Delulu is when you’re a single pringle that stays at home, doesn’t socilize with people, refuse to give guys your number, refuse to go on dates, never reply messages, enjoy your own company, have bad communications skills and then hope that your soul mate just appears in your room to ask for you hand in marraige.

Delulu is when you’re in a class and you start imagining yourself driving your dream car and then you are called to answer a question by your lecturer but you have no idea of what to say because you weren’t listening. Delulu is dreaming of walking into a boutique and picking a lot of things without being asked to pay.
Going down memory lane, i remember a day my roommate and i were contemplating on what to eat and chuckling about our shared financial issues. We suddenly imagined money raining down from our ceiling. We excitedly talked about the countless things we would do and change with the money. (In K1 De Ultimate’s voice “VIVID IMAGINATION” or better still ” FIFI IMAGINATION”). We even forgot that we were just imagining things ( Imagination wan wound us.)
Delulu is when you decide to start working on your lower body to achieve a more defined shape. After a week of consistent effort, you find yourself constantly checking your progress in the mirror and visualizing how you would look like in certain clothes with your ideal body shape. Even though you feel motivated to continue working out, you end up abandoning your routine after a week, choosing instead to hold onto the image of yourself with the desired body shape, despite not putting in the necessary work to make it reality.

It’s a thin line between using delulu to fuel your drive and letting it be an excuse for not putting in the work. You can imagine yourself as the next Elon Musk , travelling around the world or as a trust fund baby living the high life in a mansion by the ocean but at some point you have to put down the dreamcatcher and start putting in the elbow grease.
While embracing a delulu mindset can be entertaining and motivating. It’s crucial to distinguish it from reality. Indulging in occasional daydreams and manifesting our desires can add a touch of delight and enthusiasm to our lives. Nevertheless, it’s vital to maintain a balance between fantisizing and staying grounded in our everyday experiences. After all, as the saying goes, ” DELULU IS NOT TRULULU”. It is a reminder to keep our fantasies in perspectives and enjoy the journey as we strive to turn our dreams into tangible, achievable objectives.
Till i write again…..
